Grey flannel is the cloth that Savile Row built its reputation on. There are many versions of it — the terrace grey we use here is a medium tone, neither charcoal nor pale, with a slight texture in the weave that keeps it from being flat. In certain lights it reads almost blue. In others, stone.
This is the gown for everyday. It will not date, does not clash with anything, and improves with a little use. The Lounge Gown cut — long, wide lapels, belt, two patch pockets — is the traditional pattern, which we use because it has not been improved upon.
